PITFALL 1: PRIDE-5
Job 18:10 “The snare is laid for him in the ground, and a trap for him in the way.”

Proverbs 8:13 “To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.” (NIV)

…From yesterday…

God didn’t wait for him to complete the statement before He responded and the response was simple, Nebuchadnezzar became a beast in the jungle for seven years.

No matter how powerful you become as a king, never forget there is the King of kings! Know that there is nothing you have that you have not been given.

John 3: 27 “…A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.”

John 3:27 “No one can have anything unless God gives it.” (GNT)

John 3:27 “It’s not possible for a person to succeed–I’m talking about eternal success–without heaven’s help.” (MSG)

Friend, there is nothing you can have or better still there is nothing you have that you were not given! Always remember this when the devil tries to seduce you with pride. Don’t let your personal achievements become a pitfall in the hands of the enemy.

2. PRAISES/STATEMENTS FROM OTHERS
The second common source of pride is the “praises of men.” Beloved, be very careful when men start showering you with accolades. When the whole world start clapping for you. If you allow it get into your head, you’re on your way to destruction. When the applause of men makes your head swell, they have one aim, and that is to make your head burst!

Let’s consider Herod:

Acts 12:21 “And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.”

Acts 12:22 “And the people gave a shout saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.”

On that faithful day, Herod wore his regalia, well decorated and he sat upon his throne. He was looking so wonderful and he gave a powerful speech, (I always wish to know the content).
