PITFALL 1: PRIDE-4
Job 18:10 “The snare is laid for him in the ground, and a trap for him in the way.”

Proverbs 8:13 “To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.” (NIV)

…From yesterday…

Friend, I have news for you, your achievement was not yours. God was the one working behind the scene on your behalf. Hear this:

Daniel 1:1 “In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon unto Jerusalem, and besieged it.”

Daniel 1: 2 “And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.”

King Nebuchadnezzar has completely forgotten that it was God that has helped him to his new status. He suddenly labelled himself as a “self-made-man”. Hear him again:

Daniel 4:30 “and boasted, “Look at this, Babylon the great! And I BUILT IT ALL BY MYSELF, a royal palace ADEQUATE TO DISPLAY MY HONOR AND GLORY!”” (MSG)

I’ve met men like this who seems to have amassed so much power, which they claim is theirs. They loved to be praised and admired and give themselves appellation that is not theirs. These are men with the “negative anointing” of Nebuchadnezzar.

What gives me cold shivers is the response of God:

Daniel 4:31 “:While the word was in the king’s mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken The kingdom is departed from thee.”

Daniel 4:32 “And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will”

God didn’t wait for him to complete the statement before He responded and the response was simple, Nebuchadnezzar became a beast in the jungle for seven years.
