LIFE LINE

LIFE LINE
Matthew 14:30 “But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.”

There is a popular TV game show that requires people to ask some set of questions. If you’re able to answer all the questions correctly, you win a huge prize money.

One interesting thing about this game is something called a life line. This is like a bail out to help you get the answers correctly and probably win the prize.

A life line is actually a safety cable, usually a rope or cable used for safety in dangerous maneuvers, especially at sea. It is also a vital link; a means of communication or support that is extremely important to the survival of an isolated person or group.

I have since discovered that when men are in trouble, they easily reveal their life line. Challenges of life have a way of exposing what a man really believes and holds dear.

When problems come knocking, men respond by calling or using their most trusted life lines. Some people call their best friend, Uncle, Aunty, Boss or even experts. More often than none, God is usually their last point of call.

Many believe more in the visible but limitless life lines as compared to God, the invisible but Ultimate life line!

When Peter began to sink, “he cried, saying, Lord, save me.” You must remember that he had options, he could have beckoned on the eleven disciples for help, he could have asked for a life jacket, better still he could start swimming since he is a skillful fisherman.

Despite all the options available to Peter, he chose to call on Jesus! He called out to the one who bid him to come. Another man that used this life line to great effect was blind Bartimaeus.

Mark 10:47 “And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.”

Beloved, when issues of life show up, what do you do? Who or what is your life line?
