Keep your gaze on Jesus-2

Keep your gaze on Jesus-2
Matthew 14:30 “But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.”

…From yesterday…

So, if Peter was not looking at the boisterous wind what was he looking at? Hear this:

Matthew 14:29 “And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.”

The bible says, he walked on water to go to Jesus. Peter was strictly focused on Jesus. His gaze was perfectly on the Master. As long as he kept his gaze, focus and attention on Jesus, he was able to do the impossible.

Beloved, there is no doing the impossible without looking and focusing on Jesus. If you must walk on water, it must be because you’re walking towards Jesus. To be successful and remain successful in life, Jesus must be your focus. Your walking on water must be to the glory of God.

If your walking on water is for self-aggrandizement, you’re going to sink and eventually drown. Peter knew this, so he kept his focus on Jesus. Hear this:

Hebrews 12:2 “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith…’

Heb 12:2 “Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from beginning to end” (GNB)

Hebrews 12:2 “Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it…” (MSG)

Friend, what are you looking at? What is taking your attention? As long as it is not Jesus you’re heading for a fall.

Why must we keep our gaze on Him?

Job 9:8 “Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea.”

Before the episode in Matthew 14, Job had already written that God walks upon the waves of the sea. God knew the route, He knows all the techniques. All He requires us to do is to follow His footsteps. When you step where He has stepped, you will never go down.
