Catching up moment-3
Catching up moment-3
Matthew 14:28 “And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.”
…From yesterday…
It has probably never occurred to the other eleven disciples that one day there might be such an opportunity. A typical example is the case of Joseph. Hear what he told the Butler:
Genesis 40:13 “Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thine head, and restore thee unto thy place: and thou shalt deliver Pharaoh’s cup into his hand, after the former manner when thou wast his butler.”
Genesis 40:14 “But think on me when it shall be well with thee, and shew kindness, I pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house:”
It is obvious that Joseph had a vision. He knew he will one day get out of the prison and must have been dreaming of the day. Immediately after interpreting the Butler’s dream, he told the man to share and partake in his own dream of coming out as well.
Joseph never missed his catching up moment and when the time finally came for him to appear before Pharaoh, he was set!
Genesis 41:14 “Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved [himself], and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh.”
We can see from what he did that he was prepared for the palace, he recognised that his big break had come. He shaved himself and changed his raiment, he knew for sure he was not going back. That’s a man with a vision.
3. LACK OF PERSEVERANCE: This is another major reason why men miss their catching up moment. Many give up on the way and eventually miss out. If you cannot hold on till the big break happens, you will sure miss it.
Each time I look at the story of Elisha and Elijah I wonder the kind of heart Elisha had. I think he’s probably one of the most patient men the world has ever seen.
