Opportunity in crisis-2
Opportunity in crisis-2
Matthew 14:25 “And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.”
…From yesterday…
Mark 8:3 “And if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way: for divers of them came from far.”
Jesus knew that if he ask them to go, many would faint on the way and probably die.
Can you imagine what will happen on the social media if such a thing should happen? We’ll have seen some terrible headlines: “Scores die after attending church service”; “Pastor starved members to death”; “People poisoned in church”; “God couldn’t feed his followers”.
I’m sure it would be a different story we’ll be reading today. That could have almost, if not ended Jesus’ ministry. Even though his disciples couldn’t see the danger, he saw it but he didn’t just see the crisis, he saw an opportunity to use a small boy’s lunch to feed multitudes.
I want to believe Jesus had read about Elijah multiplying a widows lunch and using it to feed her, her son and others for several days. He mustt have also read about Elisha doing same and must have narrated the story to his disciples. In this same crisis, he saw an opportunity to do same and it happened.
Friend, the question is this: In that current crisis you’re going through, what are you seeing? Can you see the opportunities embedded within it?
In our focal scripture, his disciples were at sea and greatly troubled but Jesus saw an opportunity to walk on the troubled water!
Embedded deep within every crisis is the solution. The issue is that many of us are usually so overwhelmed by the crisis that we don’t see the opportunities that lies within it.
I remember once reading about the penicillin ointment and injection. At a time when gram-positive bacteria infections and diseases were killing people at an alarming rate, the whole world was in crisis and men were dying like chicken.
To be continued…
