2 Kings 4:1 “Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.”

I’ve read through this passage severally and the chapter before it and one thing that baffled me was that, it was never documented that this particular “son of the prophet” seek for help from his boss.

He had a serious financial challenge but never consulted with Elisha, he rather went and borrowed money from a strange place. We were not told who the creditors were but I want to believe they were very mean.

It was as if they were waiting for him to die so they can increase their slave workforce by two. They didn’t even pity the woman, rather they came to multiply her sorrow. I’m sure you might be thinking they’re doing their normal business, but beloved, these folks are no ordinary business men, they are agents of the devil.

How do I know? The Hebrew word translated “Creditors” here, have some dangerous meanings. It means: beguile, deprive, to lead astray and to seduce! I am sure you understand the gist now.

Those creditors knew what they were doing from day one. They were agents of darkness who deliberately target this son of the prophet.

To beguile means to deceive or charm. In order words, these creditors deceived the son of the prophet and seduced him in order to lead him astray. Did they succeed? Of course yes.

Beloved, where are you running to for help? You may think your pastor doesn’t have money to give you and your problem is financial, you may be right but the truth is that, he may not have physical cash to give you but he might just have an instruction or a word of wisdom for you.

Your breakthrough in life is not all about money but about spiritual inight and leading.
