Problems for the future
2 Kings 4:1 “Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.”

The dead prophet in our focal scripture died and left problems for his family. What he did in the past began to taunt and traumatise his family in the future.

He did things in the past that altered the future of his family negatively. Friend, I want you to have a rethink before you take that step today. What will be the likely repercussion of that action in the nearest future?

I saw three problems for this woman; She had become a widow, she was indebt and the creditors want to enslave her two sons. That’s a very precarious situation. Her whole world was in rubble, all because of the error of her husband.

Friend, what will your end look like? What will posterity say after you? What legacy are you going to leave behind?

The Bible says:

Proverbs 13:22 “A good [man] leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children…”

Proverbs 13:22 “A good life gets passed on to the grandchildren…” (MSG)

The agenda of God for us is to pass down a good life not even to our children but to our grandchildren. The way to live our lives by heaven’s standard is to at least affect two generations positively, so we must comport ourselves to meet this expectation of God.

Friend, debt is a negative spirit and like every other spiritual force must be dealt with decisively. The spirit of debt and the spirit of bondage or slavery works as a team and you must be careful the way you handle money and resources.

Friend, I pray for you today, because you’re in Christ an end has come to every negative ancestral flow in your life. The mistakes of your father and forefathers will not hunt you. You will not be enslaved because of your father’s or even your own past mistakes in Jesus name, Amen!
