4. TRADITION

Matthew 15:2 “Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.”

Matthew 15:3 “But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?”

Matthew 15:6 “And honour not his father or his mother, [he shall be free]. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.”

Mark 7:13 “Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.”

The Bible says the word of God is quick, active, sharp and powerful, hear thiis:

Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

Despite the power packed nature of the word of God, Jesus showed us some people who literally made it of none effect due to their tradition.

Tradition are cultural believes which we grew up and met. It is a part of culture that is passed from person to person or generation to generation, possibly differing in detail from family to family, such as the way to celebrate holidays, marry and even what we eat.

Tradition is a commonly held system. This is one of the most terrible systems which men holds in high esteem. The world had witnessed terrible wars and mayhem just because of tradition.

Men would kill and maim others for it but the issue is this, most of this commonly held believes are antithesis to the word of God. I have seen men refuse to marry from church, born again sisters just because their culture says “No!”
