2. FORGETFULNESS

Another thing that limits the operation of God in our lives is forgetfulness. Let’s consider the following scriptures:

Psalms 78:42 “They remembered not his hand, [nor] the day when he delivered them from the enemy.”

Psalms 78:56 “Yet they tempted and provoked the most high God, and kept not his testimonies:”

To forget means to cease remembering or to lose remembrance of something. It simply means to disremember.

One problem of the human race is forgetfulness, man easily forgets the acts of God especially when challenges come. Most times we are only aware of what God is doing, are not what He has done. If you look critically at the story of the children of Israel through the wilderness, you will see this come to play over and over again.

After crossing the red sea and singing praises to God, they got to the wilderness and needed water and completely forgot that God just parted the red sea. I want to believe that parting the red sea is a bigger miracle than providing water for them to drink. God can easily cause rain to fall and they’ll have water as compared to separating the red sea.

Each time a challenge comes up they forget the last miracle and starts to murmur against God. A man that easily forget past deeds of other men to him will always deprive himself of future favours from them.

One man who never ceases to amaze me in the bible is King David. This man enjoyed so much outstanding miracles in his life. He fought sixty six battles and lost none. I tried to understudy his tactics and one of the most important ones he uses each time is what I call the “weapon of testimony”.

One word you’ll probably see more than any other in his writeups is the word “Testimony”.
