Limiting a limitless God-3
Psalms 78:41 “Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.”
Pharaoh was the most powerful man on earth in their days, but God fought and finished him off in order to release his people. He swallowed all the gods of Egypt. He turned their water to blood before finally killing all the firstborn child in Egypt and the firstborn of their cattle.
As if that was not enough, Pharaoh pursued them to the bank of the red sea and God divided the red sea for his children to pass on dry ground and used the same red sea to bury Pharaoh and his host.
After all these, one would think these folks will trust God, honour, reference and obey Him but alas they did otherwise. On getting to the wilderness, they forgot all God did and chose rather to doubt him and called him a liar. They told God they wished He had left them in Egypt!
Numbers 11:4 “And the mixt multitude that [was] among them fell a lusting: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?”
Numbers 11:5 “We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick:”
They needed meat but rather than ask God politely they attacked him, what amazes me was that even in Egypt they didn’t eat meat! In Numbers 11:5, they highlighted what they use to eat in Egypt and meat was not there, yet they blamed God for not giving them meat.
They finally limited God by there utterances after they came back from spying the Promised Land and they all died in the wilderness. It was only Joshua and Caleb that got to Canaan out of the generation that left Egypt.
Numbers 14:2 “All the People of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron. The entire community was in on it: “Why didn’t we die in Egypt? Or in this wilderness?”
