Don’t settle in haran-14

Genesis 11:31 “And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram’s wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.”

Genesis 11:32 “And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran.”

…From yesterday…

As we roundup this meditation, let me show you another reason why men die in Haran. It is what I call ASSOCIATION WITH WRONG PEOPLE.

This reason is very subtle but very destructive. A wrong man or woman in your life can prevent you from getting to Haran. On the traveling party of Terah and his family from Ur of the Chaldees to Canaan was a young man named Lot.

Lot was Terah’s grandson. The first thing that raised questions in my heart about Lot was the name of his father. His Father’s name was Haran! Put differently, Lot was a son of the soil at Haran!

When men like Lot get to Haran, they’ve gotten home and will want you to dwell perpetually there with them. You’re in big trouble if you have such a fellow on your team.

Hear this:

Genesis 13:14 “And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:”

Imagine that? God had to wait for Lot to be separated from Abram before he could talk to him and take him to his Canaan! There are men of Haran that will never allow you get to Canaan unless you separate from them.

These are men like Jonah, “who will rock your boat.” They might be your closest associates but once they get to Haran, they “stay put” and keep you with them. It’s your responsibility to identify them and eliminate them from your traveling party.

Friend, if you habour wrong people you will likely die in Haran, beware!

Love you BiG
