Don’t settle in haran-11
Genesis 11:31 “And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram’s wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.”
Genesis 11:32 “And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran.”
…From yesterday…
He started enjoying the euphoria and the applause, thinking he has won already, forgetting he still has one and half hours to go. That is pseudo success.
Friend, don’t let men clap for you too soon. The journey is far, there is always more.
Never let the applause of men deceive you into settling down in Haran. Consider this:
Joshua 13:1 “Now Joshua was old, advanced in years. And the LORD said to him: “You are old, advanced in years, and there remains very much land yet to be possessed.” (NKJV)
Joshua did a wonderful job after the demise of Moses. He took the children of Israel across Jordan into the promised land. He fought and defeated the people of Jericho, Ai and won several other battles. He also divided the land for the children of Israel. Men applauded him, immortalised him and celebrated the great feats he achieved.
If Joshua had existed in our day, we would have used the social media to celebrate him. He would have been trending for days, receiving several accolades but something interesting happened after he reached the celebrity status.
God came to him in Joshua 13:1 and said, “Joshua, you are old, advanced in years, and there remains very much land yet to be possessed.”
Let me paraphrase it in line with our meditation, “Joshua, you have worn yourself out dwelling in Haran, while Canaan is still ahead of you.”
Can you imagine God, the Ageless One, the Ancient of Days telling Joshua he is old?
To be continued…
