Divine assistance-6
Exodus 2:18 “And when they came to Reuel their father, he said, How [is it that] ye are come so soon to day?”
…From yesterday…
I am sure you also remember the story of Elijah.
1 Kings 17:6 “And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.”
1 Kings 17:9 “Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which [belongeth] to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.”
There was famine in the land and God used some of the most unlikely means to sustain this prophet. Somebody said there was no record that Elijah fasted.
God had to use an Angel, a bird called raven (people said it is the most stingy bird alive) and even an equally hungry widow woman!
Friend, when we talk of divine assistance, it means God going out of His way to help His own. He will stop at nothing till you’re helped. God will mobilise even unusual resources from the four corners of the earth to assist you.
As we begin to roundup this meditation, I want you to also take note of something very interesting; Moses was a divine help sent to the daughters of Reuel but we discovered later that the people he helped turned round to help him!
Prior to that encounter, Moses was probably sleeping out in the open. He had no house in a strange land.
Exodus 2:15 “Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian: and he sat down by a well.”
After Moses ran away from Egypt he started living in the land of Midian. We don’t know for how long he was there before the encounter with the daughters of Reuel but it must have been a couple of days, months or even years. Moses needed help himself.
Friend, that Moses needed help, didn’t make him close his eyes to the needs of others.
To be continued…
