Divine assistance-1
Exodus 2:18 “And when they came to Reuel their father, he said, How [is it that] ye are come so soon to day?”
In our focal scripture, Reuel asked his daughters a rather awkward question. He asked them why they came home quickly from the well on that faithful day.
This implies that they’re used to coming back very late. We can also infer that their coming back late was because of some circumstances beyond their control.
Let’s see the reason for the delay:
Exodus 2:16 “Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters: and they came and drew [water], and filled the troughs to water their father’s flock.”
Exodus 2:17 “And the shepherds came and drove them away: but Moses stood up and helped them, and watered their flock.”
They were not playful or lackadaisical about their father’s business, they gave it their best shot but there are some people stronger than them that normally drive them away.
The shepherds wait for them to finish fetching water, drive them off, and used their water for their own flock. These guys were stronger and more powerful than them.
The irony of it all was that they have come to accept it as a norm. They don’t give it a fight again. Their father have also come to agree with them. Lateness and backwardness have become acceptable.
They were working for other shepherds to inherit. They labour hard and it was as if they don’t have much to show for it.
Friend, I see many people go through this situation even in our modern day. Many work hard but nothing much is coming out of it.
They labour but no matter how hard and how early they start out, they still come late in life and destiny. Some don’t even sleep in order to meet up but some how they still fall short.
Beloved, there are physical and spiritual barriers and time wasters. Forces that have positioned themselves to slow you down in life.
