​Reuel to Jethro-4

Exodus 2:18 “And when they came to Reuel their father, he said, How [is it that] ye are come so soon to day?”

Exodus 3:1 “Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, [even] to Horeb.”

…From yesterday…

Reuel stopped strife and enmity and God took him to His secret place. God showed him how he does things and committed the future into his hands.

Friend, if there is something you must become this year, it is the friend of God. Become a pal of God and watch him take you to places beyond your wildest imaginations. It doesn’t matter your background, you can change your own relationship with God.

Abraham’s father Terah was a moon, mountain and sun worshipper but Abraham changed all that and God introduced him as Reuel!

Isaiah 41:8 “But thou, Israel, [art] my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of ABRAHAM MY FRIEND.”

What a great privilege for God, our creator and the creator of the ends of the earth to call you His friend! Beloved, let this be your heart cry and mine this year. 

Let’s look at the end point of this great friend of God. The Prince of Midian was introduced first as Reuel and then as Jethro.

Reuel means friend of God while Jethro means; “God’s abundance”, “exceeding”, “to show/have excess”, “have more than enough”, “left behind”, “too much”, “make plenteous” and “preserve”.

The Prince of Midian became Reuel the friend of God and moved from there to become Jethro, “the man of surplus and abundance”. 

Friend, when you become the friend of God, He opens up to you His good treasure. 

Deuteronomy 28:12 “The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.”
