My Christmas notes- Your destiny is bigger than your birth-1

Matt. 2: 1 “Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,”

Luke 2:7 “And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.”

Still on my Christmas notes. The circumstances surrounding the birth of Christ including where he was born seems to be degrading for One that is called The King of kings.

What King is born in Bethlehem, inside a manger and wrapped with swaddling clothes? Even many children of commoners are born in hospitals or at least a maternity home. A child that is born where they give birth to sheep and goats doesn’t sound like one with a “royal or blue blood”. He’s more of a “common” shepherd boy than a king.

The Bible even testify that Bethlehem was a tiny city, not a city of kings like Jerusalem.

Micah 5: 2 “But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.”

If Bethlehem was that little and seemingly inconsequential, why was Christ the Messaih, King of kings, Almighty, Lord of Lords as a matter of fact God Himself born there? Of all the great cities on this planet why that little village and manger of all places.

As a pastor, I have heard course to listen to people and counsel them and one thing that is prominent among people especially those that have challenges is that they trace all the problems of their life to their background. I’m sure if we’re all given a choice of where to be born many will not choose the place they were born.

People will choose “great” places and palaces of kings and the houses of the rich, wealthy and powerful.

To be continued…
