​My Christmas notes- Mess to Message-3

Matthew 1:3 “Judah had Perez and Zerah (the mother was Tamar), Perez had Hezron, Hezron had Aram,”

Matthew 1:5 “Salmon had Boaz (his mother was Rahab), Boaz had Obed (Ruth was the mother), Obed had Jesse,”

Matthew 1:6 “Jesse had David, and David became king. David had Solomon (Uriah’s wife was the mother),” (MSG)

…From yesterday…

Human being will always use something bad to label you, how sad. If they called her Bathsheba many people might not remember her offence hence the name calling.

She was the wife of Uriah who David “snatched”. She got pregnant for David who went ahead to get her husband murdered. Should this kind of woman be in the lineage of Christ?

What about Tamar, who disguised as a harlot and seduced her father-in-law into sleeping with her. She gave birth to those twins (Perez and Zerah) for her father-in-law. One of the twins, Perez was the great great grandfather of David. How did Perez get into the scheme of things?

What about Rahab a world renowned harlot. She was one of the first mentioned professional prostitutes in the bible and in ancient times. She was renowned for this dirty trade and was “servicing” the rich and powerful. Yet she entered into the lineage of Christ.

We also have Ruth in the family tree. Ruth was a descendant of Moab. Moab was an incest child of Lot, the nephew of Abraham. Because of the incest act, Moab became a cursed nation.

Numbers 21:29 “Woe to thee, Moab! thou art undone…”

God banished them from having anything to do with Israel. They were not even allowed to enter church. 

Deuteronomy 23:3 “An Ammonite or Moabite shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to their tenth generation shall they not enter into the congregation of the LORD for ever:”

They became God’s sworn enemies, yet Ruth made it into the  lineage of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
