​My Christmas notes- Mess to Message-2

Matthew 1:3 “Judah had Perez and Zerah (the mother was Tamar), Perez had Hezron, Hezron had Aram,”

Matthew 1:5 “Salmon had Boaz (his mother was Rahab), Boaz had Obed (Ruth was the mother), Obed had Jesse,”

Matthew 1:6 “Jesse had David, and David became king. David had Solomon (Uriah’s wife was the mother),” (MSG)

…From yesterday…

In our focal scripture, the first name mentioned was that of Judah. He is not just one of Jesus’ progenitors, Jesus is still known as his Son and called the Lion of the tribe of Judah.

Revelation 5:5 “And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.”

This Judah of a man, slept with his daughter in law and harlot. He was ruthless and was the same man who masterminded the sale of Joseph into slavery. He married a Canaanite woman against the instructions of God. I don’t think that kind of guy qualifies to be in the lineage of the Messaih, I’m sure you’ll quite agree with me.

As a matter of fact there are four women mentioned who I always feel was a mistake but alas they are not. Those women are Tamar, Rahab, Ruth and (Uriah’s wife…) according to Matthew 1:6. I am sure the Holy Spirit practically forced the people that compiled the bible to include her. 

Upon that they were too holy to mention her “dirty name”, they simply referred to her as Uriah’s wife so they can stylishly remind us of her offence. 

Human being will always use something bad to label you, how sad. If they called her Bathsheba many people might not remember her offence hence the name calling….

Let’s take a PAUSE to wish you a Happy New Year from the entire LIFT TEAM. This year will work for you not against you in Jesus name. 2018 will be your best year yet.
