Prayer lesson from Rachel: Divine intervention-1

Prayer lesson from Rachel: Divine intervention-1

Genesis 30:22 “And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her, and opened her womb.”

Genesis 30:23 “Finally, God remembered Rachel–he answered her prayer by giving her a son. “God has taken away my disgrace,” she said.” (CEV)

When I read the story and meditated over it, I came to a conclusion that Rachel could have given birth several years earlier but for her wrong decisions and counterproductive actions.

She practically delayed herself! This woman was busy doing everything else to get a child but pray. She completely kept God out of the success equation. Rachel represents majority of believers nowadays who claim to know Jesus but never consults with him on issues in their lives.

Many only profess to know God but only treat him as a religious deity to be worshipped once in a while. They completely keep Him far away from their affairs. Friend, I want you to know that God is not a religious being. He is alive, active and ever ready to get involved in what ever concerns us.

He is closer to us than our closest friends. Your closest pal might just be a phone call away but the Almighty God is just a prayer away. You don’t need any complex device to communicate with Him. All you need is to open your mouth and voice your concerns!

Just verbalise your thoughts and He swings into action. He is a Father who takes delight in seeing us happy and excited. Hear Him:

John 16:24 “Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.”

John 16:24 “Up to this time you have not asked a [single] thing in My Name [as presenting all that I AM]; but now ask and keep on asking and you will receive, so that your joy (gladness, delight) may be full and complete.” (AMP)

This scripture shows the problem of Rachel as well as that of majority of us, we just won’t ask!

To be continued…
