​Prayer lesson from Rachel: Wrestling for it-3

Genesis 30:22 “And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her, and opened her womb.”

Genesis 30:23 “Finally, God remembered Rachel–he answered her prayer by giving her a son. “God has taken away my disgrace,” she said.” (CEV)

…From yesterday…

John 6:63 “…Sheer muscle and willpower don’t make anything happen.” (MSG)

Friend, your flesh is too weak to get you stuff. The earlier you come to terms with this the better for you. 

I have learnt a long time ago to rely on Him totally and absolutely. My violence and wrestling is too infinitesimal. 

I still “fight and labour” for stuff but you know what? I fight a more intelligent and highly tactical spiritual fight, it is called the GOOD FIGHT which is the FIGHT OF FAITH!

Jesus’ disciples once asked him if we should not labour again or how should we labour and work? Jesus’ response has helped me a lot. His answer was concise, precise and loaded with revelation. Hear him:

John 6:29 “Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.”

I love it in the New Living Translation:

John 6:29 “Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.”” (NLT)

Our work in the New Testament dispensation is simlly to BELIEVE. Faith is our life line and we release our faith in the place of prayer.

Rachel from our meditation didn’t use her faith nor believed God. She rather chose to use her “muscles” to get what she want. But sadly, this has been the strategy of many of us. Most believe they can get by without involving God. Many even feel some issues are “too small” to involve God. 

Well, the only work and labour required of us is simple faith released in prayer. Christ has paid the price; that is grace, but faith simply makes what is available in Christ a possibility in our lives!
