Prayer lesson from Rachel: Suicide mode-1

Prayer lesson from Rachel: Suicide mode-1

Genesis 30:22 “And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her, and opened her womb.”

Genesis 30:23 “Finally, God remembered Rachel–he answered her prayer by giving her a son. “God has taken away my disgrace,” she said.” (CEV)

Another response of Rachel as well as many people when they seem not to have what they want is what I call suicide. This is a deadly weapon the enemy throws at us to permanently stop us.

Genesis 30:1 “And when Rachel saw that she bare Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister; and said unto Jacob, GIVE ME CHILDREN, or ELSE I DIE.”

Friend, I discovered from this story that people becoming  suicidal is not just a problem of this generation. It’s a challenge that has been with us for long.

The number of people committing suicide is increasing by the numbers. I saw a statistics that said eight million, three hundred thousand (8.3M) adults had serious thoughts about committing suicide out of which one million, one hundred thousand (1.1M) actually did, just barely a year ago.

Men are four times more prone to committing suicide as compared to women but suicide is the leading cause of death among  children between 10-14 years, which means it’s not just an adult affair.

One major cause of suicide is hopelessness. Who says your challenge is peculiar to you? Who told you you’re the first person going through this difficulty?

Why will you allow the devil push you to a junction where the only pictures you see are those of death and hopelessness?

Rachel had no child, but the truth is that, the only people that gives birth are those that stay alive! Dead men don’t give birth. If she dies, how will she give birth? I guess she wasn’t thinking straight.

That stuff you want so desperately will eventually come but will you be alive to enjoy it?

To be continued…

Love you BiG
