​Psalms 23: Goodness and Mercy-3

Psalms 23:6 “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.”

The mercy of God talks about being forgiven and given preferential treatment by Him everyday. Is God partial? 

Well, I don’t want to say yes or no but one thing is clear, He has favourites. So you can make your conclusion!

All through scriptures we saw Him giving preferential treatment to some set of people, especially the nation of Israel of which as a believer, we also belong. 

How do you give an already occupied land to a group of people who you just chose and drive out the occupants?

Many of the people that enjoyed this type of treatment do not deserve it by all human standards but He chose them. I guess if you think back on your own life you’ll quite agree with me. How did you escape that particular accident and cheat death? Just His goodness and Mercy!

Beloved, how can Rehab the harlot be a part of the lineage that gave birth to Christ? What do we say about David? 

That guy committed some terrible crimes but God called him a man after His own heart. I know left to you and I, we would have long excommunicated David from our community and church. We won’t even vote for him not to talk of making him President, King, Chief of Army staff, Priest and Choir leader, but God chose him and installed him without consulting man. 

Many of us will never touch Saul with a long stick. I am sure we will even walk out of church if he is allowed in, not to talk of him preaching! But guess what? He didn’t just preach, he became the most pronounced, profound and most successful Apostle.

He wrote about seventy five percent of our New Testament. He didn’t walk physically with Christ but he was one of the men that set the pace and defined Christianity.
