Psalms 23: His name’s sake-1

Psalms 23: His name’s sake-1

Psalms 23:3 “He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for HIS NAME’S SAKE.”

Friend, the reason why God will do some things for you is not because of you but rather because of Himself! God will do stuff for us simply because of who He is.

The Bible says he leads in paths of righteousness for His Name’s Sake. The Hebrew word used here for “name” is shêm, which means reputation, fame and glory. That made me jump up! I discover that God will do things for me because of his reputation and glory.

In order words, He does things for us because if he doesn’t, his very integrity is at stake. We established in previous meditation that the word righteousness means deliverance, victory, prosperity, right living, right standing with God, to declare righteous, justify and to cleanse.

It simply means God will have to deliver me from trouble, evil and make me successful and prosperous because if He doesn’t his integrity and reputation will be soiled.

Now I understand when he said:

2 Timothy 2:13 “If we believe not, [yet] he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.”

2 Timothy 2:13 “If we are not faithful, he will still be faithful. Christ cannot deny who he is.” (CEV)

2 Timothy 2:13 “If we are faithless [do not believe and are untrue to Him], He remains true (faithful to His Word and His righteous character), for He cannot deny Himself.” (AMP)

That’s an interesting discovery. God is so true to himself that he will always remain stable no matter the condition. I once heard Myles Munroe said: “The reason a manufacturer will put a warranty on a product, is simply because their integrity is at sake if the product doesn’t live up to expectation or fails.”

I believe that with the whole of my being. Beloved, God took time to put you and I together with great precision and accuracy, he cannot afford to allow us malfunction.

To be continued…
