Psalms 23: Multiple routes-1

Psalms 23: Multiple routes-1

Psalms 23:3 “He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”

I thought this scripture should be he leads me in the “path” not “paths” of righteousness. Why multiple routes?

I didn’t get to understand it until I studied the word righteousness as used here. The Hebrew word used for righteousness means; rightness in speech, deliverance, victory, prosperity, right living, right standing with God, to declare righteous, justify and to cleanse,

Truly our walk with this Great Shepherd is an adventure. There are multiple routes we must travel with him,

There is a path to prosperity, another path to deliverance, yet another to cleansing and justification.

The word “path” as used here means; method, principle or standard, I love that. It simply means God has a method or principle for prosperity, for deliverance, for victory, for cleansing and for justification. If you try any other method or standard apart from his own you will fail.

It will interest you to know that his standard or measuring  stick is His Word. Anything short of that is unacceptable. Friend, whatever you want is available with our Shepherd but you must be ready to follow his lead through his path.

For example, his path to justification is Christ. It is not what you can do for him or how much you will do, his only acceptable path to justification and right living is the finished work of Christ.

Romans 3:24 “Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:”

Titus 3:7 “That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”

All it will take on your part is to embrace his path. You can’t bribe your way into his heart, just follow his principle of justification.

God’s pathway to justification is the finished work of Christ provided by grace!

To be continued…
