Psalms 23: He leads me-2

Psalms 23: He leads me-2

Psalms 23:2 “He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.”

…From yesterday…

A sheep that jumps ahead of the shepherd ends up lost, dead or in the trap of the enemy.

In many quarters today we talk about leadership and the need for it in every facet of our lives. We always recognise the fact that the world’s no one problem is that of leadership. All these are excellent but one thing we must also lay emphasis on is that only a sheep that has been well led can lead others.

I have met several upcoming leadership speakers and even old ones who will never follow a leader they see; not to talk of a Shepherd they do not see. I have seen pastors disobey direct instructions and yet try to enforce it on their members.

Hear Apostle Paul:

1 Corinthians 11:1 “Be ye followers of me, even as I also [am] of Christ.”

In order words, he was telling them that the reason he was qualified to lead them is because he has been led himself. Beloved, there is no leadership without followership.

Every failure in the life of a man is traceable to a lack of leadership somewhere. When you don’t follow, you suffer.

David understood the concept of leadership so well because he followed God himself; hence he was able to make such a powerful statement. He followed God and followed other men who are following God. He never made a move without guidance. No wonder he fought sixty six battles and lost none.

David followed the Great Shepherd to such an extent that he became a reference for others that came after him.

1 Kings 9:4 “And if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, [and] wilt keep my statutes and my judgments:”

God testified about the followership of David! Friend, what will,  God say about yours?
