Psalms 23: Lie in green pastures-2

Psalms 23: Lie in green pastures-2

Psalms 23:2 “He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.”

…From yesterday…

When our shepherd leads we must follow because he is not doing a guess work, he sure knows where the grass is lush green and in abundance. All he needs from us is to trust him.

Hear him again:

Ezekiel 34:14 “I will feed them in a good pasture, and upon the high mountains of Israel shall their fold be: there shall they lie in a good fold, and [in] a fat pasture shall they feed upon the mountains of Israel.”

Friend, there are pastures and there are pastures. There is a good pasture and of course a bad one. The shepherd knows the good ones and the abominable ones. He by experience carefully sort them out before recommending them to his sheepfold.

The problem is that the devil is also out there putting up “seemingly green pastures” to lure the sheep away so he can destroy them. Many believers nowadays are easily deceived by the appearance of the green grass on the other side.

This account always sadden my heart each time I read it:

1 Kings 18:19 “Now therefore send, [and] gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, WHICH EAT AT JEZEBEL’S TABLE.”

Bible scholars told us that some of those prophets were originally prophets of God who became prophets of Baal and of the groves simply because they ate at the “seemingly green” table of Jezebel.

Jezebel representing the enemy here, disguised a field and make it look great and green. They ate at her table and eventually, the whole eight hundred and fifty lost their heads! They ate there and lost their heads while they lay.

The Green pasture of our great shepherd is where there is both delight and plenty of provisions.

Stick with Jesus. He will feed you and your head will remain on your neck, Selah!
