Psalms 23: The making-1
Psalms 23:2 “He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.”
Hear this: Our Shepherd is a Maker! He doesn’t destroy, he makes, builds and put together.
The word “maketh” as used here means to create, to interpret, to bring into success, to cause to be and to arrive at a destination!
This same Shepherd came back several years later after David had long gone and make a similar statement. He said:
Matthew 4:19 “And He said to them, Come after Me [as disciples–letting Me be your Guide], follow Me, and I will make you…”(AMP)
Mark 2:14 “…He said to him, Follow Me! [Be joined to Me as a disciple, side with My party!] And he arose and joined Him as His disciple and sided with His party and accompanied Him.”(MSG)
Jesus is an expert at “making”, he is a master maker, builder and architect, he transforms us from what we are to what we needed to be. As long as we are ready to follow him, he makes us into a wonder to our world.
The word maketh also means to form or formulate in the mind; to cause to stand; to establish; to enact, to manage and to empower!
David knew this so well, because God took him from following after sheep and made him a king! Friend, it doesn’t matter where you are in life, he can pick you up from the backside and bring you to the forefront. He his an expert moulder and maker.
There is however a challenge with making and that is the fact that it involves some level of discomfort. To be made by God (the Great Shepherd), many times involves us leaving our comfort zones.
The making involves God causing us to act in a certain manner and interfering in our routine in order to get us to where we needed to be. There is no making without discomfort and uneasiness.
When it comes to the Shepherd making you, pains will be involved.
To be continued…
