Keeping up appearances-2
Keeping up appearances-2
2 Timothy 3:5 “Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”
2 Timothy 3:5 “They’ll make a show of religion, but behind the scenes they’re animals. Stay clear of these people.”
…From yesterday…
Friend, Christianity is not a religion or make believe, Paul said it is the demonstration of the power of God.
1 Corinthians 2:4 “And my speech and my preaching [was] not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:”
Many people grew up thinking the bible is make believe, a compilation of stories put together to excite us and have a religion. Many go to church because they were told about a God that is somewhere far away who expects them to follow certain mantra.
1 Corinthians 2:5 “That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.”
Paul also warns that our faith must not stand in what we were told by men but rather in an experiential knowledge of God. Until you come to the place of personal encounter, your Christianity will be ordinary and powerless.
Jesus told us to be his witnesses not a stooge. He want us to come to a place where we don’t just say, “Jesus heals” but rather , “Jesus is MY healer”.
Not just, “Jesus can provide”, but “Jesus is my proviider”.
Not just, “I read it in the bible” but “I’ve experienced Him”.
We must all come to a place of knowing and experience with the power of Christ. As a witness in the court of law, the judge want people who were there when it happened not people who were told what happened. If it happened before your very eyes or you were part of the experience, you are a reliable witness. The judge doesn’t want people who will put up appearances.
Beloved, God is a righteous judge who want reliable witnesses not a man who have shallow and distance knowledge of him.
To be continued…
