Matthew 13:25 “But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.”
Amos 6:1 “Woe to you [who are] at ease in Zion…”
Another way to combat sleep is to refuse to be at ease in Zion. This means you cannot afford to rest on your oars. How do I mean?
When you are not prayerful as you use to be or take a rest from prayers you are sleeping off already and “living dangerously at ease”.
To take a break from spiritual things or assignment is to be at ease in Zion, don’t develop a false sense of safety. The enemy is waiting to see you slow down and at ease so he can sow tares. Stay on your toes.
Proverbs 19:15 “Laziness casts [one] into a deep sleep, And an idle person will suffer hunger.” (NKJV)
Proverbs 20:4 “The lazy [man] will not plow because of winter; He will beg during harvest and [have] nothing.” (NKJV)
Laziness or slothfulness is another vice we must combat in order to stay awake. King Solomon said a lazy man falls into a deep sleep, not just a nap.
Friend, hunger many times is not caused by one demon somewhere, it is a product of laziness. When you don’t work when you’re suppose to work, you have slept off and the devil sow tares of hunger.
2 Samuel 11:1 “And it came to pass, after the year was expired, at the time when kings go forth [to battle], that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried still at Jerusalem.”
When David stayed back at Jerusalem when he was supposed to go to war, it was an act of laziness and eventually he fell into adultery. Laziness is deadly, we must learn to be at the right place at the right time.
Beloved, we must constantly stay on our feet and never remove our foot from the “accelerator” of life. Give your destiny the commitment it requires. Keep your prayer and spiritual altars hot!
