While men slept-3

While men slept-3

Matthew 13:25 “But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.”

…From yesterday…

Beloved, the problem was not even Cain killing Abel. The problem was Adam and Eve eating the forbidden fruit and coperating with the devil to introduce death into the human race.

Cain killing Abel happened as a result of the “tares” maturing with the wheat.

From our focal scripture we can establish certain truths regarding the tares as inspired by the Holy Spirit.

1. We should not sleep or slumber spiritually: The statement from our focal scripture says, “But while men slept…”.

Every time you see the word, “BUT”, it means there is a clear departure from the normal routine. What was the normal routine?

Matthew 13:24 “Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:”

The normal routine is for this particular farmer to keep sowing good seeds. It means to be focused on the assignment God has given him without wavering. This man was busy sowing good seeds and cultivating his field as assigned by God until he decided to sleep. The moment he fell asleep trouble started.

The point is this; we must never fall asleep or relax in the place of assignment. That word “BUT” must never be an option in the race of destiny!
2. We have an enemy: The Bible says “But while men slept, his enemy…”

The Bible used the term, “his enemy”. That’s definitive, there is no probability in it. It is a confirmed fact that as believers we have an enemy. Another interesting fact is that our enemy is not faceless, he has a name and he is called the devil.

1 Peter 5:8 “Be on your guard and stay awake. YOUR ENEMY, THE DEVIL, is like a roaring lion, sneaking around to find someone to attack.”(CEV)
