2 Kings 7:10 “So they came and called unto the porter of the city: and they told them, saying, We came to the camp of the Syrians, and, behold, [there was] no man there, neither voice of man, but horses tied, and asses tied, and the tents as they [were].”

Greed is the undoing of many people. That’s why a politician or boss in an office will collect his own entitlement, spend it and then “hijack” that of other people as well. Hear this:

Proverbs 21:26 “He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not”

A righteous man shares and gives. Any righteousness without sharing is fake.

Hebrews 13:16 “Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God” (ESV)

When we share what we have with others, God is pleased. It shows we are following after Him. 

Romans 12:13 “Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.”

Sharing is a New Testament command and we must adhere to it as believers in Christ. Many people are suffering from poverty simply because they wouldn’t share what they have with anybody. They hoard knowledge and material things and yet complain of being broke. 

Friend, sharing and giving is what breaks the backbone of poverty. It’s good to pray and fast against poverty but definitely not enough. This kind does not go away with prayer and fasting alone, it must be accompanied with giving.

God says:

Genesis 8:22 “While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.”

Don’t let harvest be your focus, let sharing be. As long as this planet remains, we can never outgrow giving and sharing. 

If God didn’t share with us we would have all been doomed. You can’t claim to love God and not be a giver. 

As a matter of fact, we should not keep the good news about Jesus Christ to ourselves, we should share it with others as well!
