The four lepers: Fulfil Prophecy-1
The four lepers: Fulfil Prophecy-1
2 Kings 7:1 “Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the LORD; Thus saith the LORD, To morrow about this time [shall] a measure of fine flour [be sold] for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.”
As we begin to bring this meditation to a close, there is another lesson I want us to glean from these amazing lepers. It is what I call fulfilment of prophecy.
These folks fulfilled a positive prophecy. In our focal scripture, Prophet Elisha prophesied that there will be a twenty four hour miracle that will end the famine in the land. He spoke as inspired by God but these lepers were the ones through whom the prophecy came to pass.
God was able to use them in the fulfilment of the prophecy because of their posture and positioning. Correct posture and positioning is always critical to the fulfilment of a prophecy. Their mindset and character was such that God can use.
Friend, be the one to fulfil positive prophesies. Can God trust you enough to commit a divine agenda and assignment into your hands?
God knew that these folks will be courageouus yet humble enough to approach the Syrian camp, that is correct posture. He also knew they will be generous enough to share the spoil with the people of Israel, that is correct positioning.
Out of the whole land they were the ones qualified for the assignment.
In the same story, there was another man who fulfilled prophecy but unfortunately his was a negative one. He was the King’s chief economic adviser.
2 Kings 7:2 “Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, [if] the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see [it] with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.”
Elisha spoke and the King’s aid doubted the word of God. He discredited the prophecy.
To be continued…
