A visit to the Ants-1

A visit to the Ants-1

Proverbs 6:6 “Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:”

Proverbs 6:6 “Take a lesson from the ants, you lazybones. Learn from their ways and become wise!” (NLT)

Today, the Holy Spirit laid this topic in my heart and I believe He has some depths he wants us to critically consider. In the past we have meditated on several things from nature but today we are looking at the ant.

So, let’s pay them a visit and pick some vital lessons from them.

The ant happens to be very common around the world. As a matter of facts, scientists said, “The total biomass of all the ants on earth is roughly equal to the total biomass of all the people on earth!”.

That looks impossible since they are so tiny, and we are so big. But they estimated that there are at least 1.5 million ants on the planet for every human being. Over 12,000 species of ants are known to exist, on every continent except Antarctica. Most live in tropical regions. A single acre of Amazon rainforest may house 3.5 million ants. (Culled from Animals in nature)

That’s an amazing, mind blowing fact, no wonder king Solomon the wisest king that ever lived advised us to pay them a visit.

So, what are the lessons to pick from them?

King Solomon in our focal scripture seemed to be addressing a particular group of people he called the sluggard. Well, you might claim not to be a sluggard but even at that you need these lessons in order not to become one.

A sluggard is simply a lazy, dastard, idle, poltroon, fearful, slothful or cowardly man.

This takes me to the first lesson which is what I call the “Culture of hard work”.

Ants are one or probably the most hard working creatures to ever graze this planet. As a matter of fact ants are categorised based on the nature of work they do. We have soldiers, workers and so on.

The first thing God introduced to man was work!

To be continued…
