People that hinder us: THE ELIABS -4
People that hinder us: THE ELIABS -4
Galatians 5: 7 “Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?”
…From yesterday…
How do I handle an Eliab?
Friend, you need the Holy Spirit to help you handle such folks. Your first point of call for solution is the throne room. Ask God for direction.
David handled “his Eliab” well and went on to step into greatness. If he had listened to Eliab, he would have returned home an “anointed shepherd boy” in the bush and backside of life.
Let’s pick one or two lessons from David.
1 Samuel 17:29 “And David said What have I now done Is there not a cause?”
1 Samuel 17:30 “And he turned from him toward another, and spake after the same manner: and the people answered him again after the former manner.”
The first thing David said was “…Is there not a cause?” Meaning is there not a reason or purpose for my being here? That is a man of purpose. David knew and affirmed is purpose. Friend, know your purpose to the extent that no Eliab can confuse or deter you.
I normally ask people questions such as “Why were you not born in the year 1419 or 1617?” “Why were you not Moses, Elijah or even Prophet Samuel?”
The simple reason is this, if you were not born then, you were not needed then! There is a cause or reason for your existence now, you must know it and master it.
Is your purpose a settled issue? What is your relevance to your generation?
Another important principle I want us to learn from David is that we must know how to ignore Eliab.
The bible says, “And he turned from him…” The Message translation says, “Ignoring his brother, he turned to someone else…” (1Samuel 17:30).
Beloved, ignore the Eliabs by turning away from them. Don’t hang around somebody that will frustrate your dreams. Keep such folks at arm’s length.
You cannot travel the journey of destiny with everybody. Drop the Eliabs!
To be continued…
