​People that hinder us: THE ELIABS -1

Galatians 5: 7 “Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?”

In our journey in life and destiny we will always face obstacles that want to slow us down, frustrate us or out rightly stop us. The devil is our number one enemy and he knows whatever God ask us to do will do damage to his kingdom, so he incites men against our progress.

Our focal scripture says; “Ye did run well; who did hinder you..?” (Galatians 5:7)

This scripture always reminds me of the people that hinder us. Paul was asking the Galatians why it appears they have relaxed the pursuit of their God given assignment. 

The interesting thing however is that, he didn’t ask them, “WHAT” is hindering them but rather “WHO”.

Friend, it is not “what”, it is all about the “who”. In this piece we are going to be meditating on some personality who might be incited against us to stop our progress. Knowing them will help us to handle them properly.

The first set of people that can hinder us are the Eliabs.  

1 Samuel 17:28 “And Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spake unto the men; and Eliab’s anger was kindled against David, and he said Why camest thou down hither? and with whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know thy pride, and the naughtiness of thine heart; for thou art come down that thou mightest see the battle.”

Eliab is anybody who want to stand against your elevation in life and destiny. They are the people who resent your desire for increase and the rewards it brings. They are usually “your elder brothers” who have a secret fear, that your success will show their gross incompetence and inadequacies.

These folks come up with “innocent” excuses and tells us to “take things easy” in life. They do all within their power to tactically stop us because they perceive us as threats to their own ambitions and success.
