Rise from the ashes
Rise from the ashes
Judges 6:26 “And build an altar unto the LORD thy God upon the top of this rock…and offer a burnt sacrifice with the wood of the grove which thou shalt cut down”
In our scripture for the day, a particular phrase caught my attention and I want us to give it some thoughts.
God told Gideon to “…offer a burnt sacrifice with the wood of the grove which thou shalt cut down”.
I thought the ideal thing would be for Gideon to enter the bush and cut down a new set of trees to use as wood for the burnt sacrifice, but that was not the instruction. He was told to use the wood from the grove! The grove was the idol himself and his father’s house were worshipping.
Here is the gist, God want you to rise from the ashes of the past. He want to use your past mistakes and errors as fuel for your next miracle. God is a specialist in turning bad situations around. I have seen terrible idol worshippers become fiery preachers.
There are some experiences in your life that will serve as springboards for your next promotion and success.
God can use for His glory what the whole world is using against you!
God took over the “passion” with which Saul was persecuting the early church to preach the gospel.
Galatians 1:13 “For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews’ religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:”
Galatians 1:15 “But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace,”
Galatians 1:16 “To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen…”
Paul used all the wood from his past life to fuel the fire of his divine assignment. Can he get fresh woods? Yes he can, but God wanted to prove that nothing is useless in His hands.
Friend, don’t be too hard on yourself, it doesn’t matter how horrible your past has been, allow God use it to fuel the fire of your future.
