Baal and Ashtoreth -3
Judges 6: 25 “And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Take thy father’s young bullock, even the second bullock of seven years old, and throw down the altar of Baal that thy father hath, and cut down the grove that is by it:”
Friend, which is your own Baal or Ashtoreth? We might blame them as much as we want but it seems to me we worship more gods and goddesses as compared to those folks.
Our world has become so polluted and idolized that we hardly have time for the True and Living God.
We have idols such as; disobedience, money, wrong relationships, social media, cars, fashion, sex, sports, TV and even food!
Some items on that list may sound awkward but those are in reality the altars that have taken over the place of God in our lives. It is not until you set up a physical altar or shrine in your house before we call you an idol worshipper.
Your attitude towards most of the things mentioned above reveals the type of idol you’ve built in your life.
I remember watching an interview recently. The interviewer was asking people in a particular community in Lagos (South Western Nigeria, West Africa) if they can kill one member of their family for five million Naira (Nigeria currency). One young man said, He can kill all of them.
Another one asked, “Is the money ready?” So he can get to work. Beloved, that’s how perverted our world has become. Idolatry is still very much with us. You may argue that you are born again, which is true but in reality can you sacrifice your time, business and energy for God?
It is not about that herbalist or witch doctor, it is about you. Don’t you dare point an accusing finger to another man. Sit down and check for the idols in your life and begin to destroy them.
How much time do you spend with God in a day/week? I guess I will allow you answer that question in your heart!
