​Baal and Ashtoreth -2

Judges 6: 25 “And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Take thy father’s young bullock, even the second bullock of seven years old, and throw down the altar of Baal that thy father hath, and cut down the grove that is by it:” 

…From yesterday…

Exodus 34:14 “For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:”

God already knew in advance that once any other god takes the number place in their lives, they will become the slaves of such gods. 

Romans 6:16 “Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?”

Beloved, God is not just giving that instruction to “them”, He is giving the same to us as new creation believers as well. God wants the number one place in our hearts. He will not share us with any other god.

Those folks served Baal, the “lord or master” and became married to it. In the New Testament God is saying, “But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.” (1Corinthians 6:17)

We are already one spirit with the Lord. We are joined and married to Him. No other union is permitted aside our union with Christ.

Christ is the head and Husband of the church and we are the church. We cannot have any other God beside him.

The Israelites also worshipped another goddess called Ashtoreth which promised them increase. Unfortunately for them rather than increase they were decreasing. They became poor and impoverished despite serving this goddess. 

Friend, which is your own Baal or Ashtoreth? We might blame them as much as we want but it seems to me we worship more gods and goddesses as compared to those folks. 

Our world has become so polluted and idolized that we hardly have time for the True and Living God. We have idols such as; disobedience, money, wrong relationships, social media…
