Lessons from the Fig
Mark 11:13 “…when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not [yet].”

Mark 11:14 “And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it.”

…From yesterday…

God will only mark a man based on what he has assigned him or her to do. It will be sad in heaven when we get there and God addresses you as “Barrister” James instead of the “Pastor” James you’ve been calling yourself. Know your assignment and stay there.

This fig received a pronouncement of judgement because it refused to produce the desired result. God is result oriented and demands accountability from all of us.

The issue is this, Why should God keep you alive?

In case you don’t know, you are God’s investment and he expends resources on you daily. He gives you a fair share of oxygen, makes sure you sleep and wake up. He keeps you in good health with soundness of mind. He deploys His angels each time you’re on the road to make sure you return safely. He demolishes the plot of hell against your life daily.

Those are serious investments. If you are a business man how long will you deploy such magnanimous resources on a “useless and fruitless” venture?

We didn’t know how long this fig tree has been existing or if perhaps it had fruited in the past. What we do know is that at this particular time it had no fruits. Beloved, your destiny is a full time job, don’t rest on your oars, keep keeping on.

Friend, stay in purpose, stay faithful and fruitful, we never know when God will come to mark our ‘paper”. The examination of God comes unannounced.

Never forget that God is the Master and Owner of our lives. He is Lord over everything and has the right to demand fruits from any of us at any time. We do not own ourselves. So, always do the Master’s bidding!

To be continued…
