Lessons from the Fig

Just leaves-3

Mark 11:13 “And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not [yet].”

…From yesterday…

Hear this:

Genesis 3: 7 “And the eyes of them both were opened and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves aprons.”

Genesis 3: 21 “Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them”

God knew that leaves won’t last on man so he clothed him with coats of skins. The truth is this; you can never impress God with your hard labour and religious rituals, God considers them as leaves. What pleases God is the blood, God had to kill an animal in the garden to get the skin which he used to cover them.

Hebrews 9:22 “And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.”

What pleases God is His blood which was shed at Calvary. You need an understanding of the price that was paid for your redemption and live your life on that premise.

It is only the blood that cleanses and makes whole and you must allow the blood purge you thoroughly.

Let your life reflect that of Christ, in thought, actions and appearance. Don’t be like that fig tree.

A hypocrite is one who pretends to hold beliefs, or whose actions are not consistent with their claimed beliefs. He is one who practices and engages in the same behavior or activity for which he criticizes or blames another.

This fig tree didn’t bother about fruits; it was busy using leaves to deceive people. It may have deceived several people but one day it came in contact with the creator of the universe who cannot be deceived.

Friend, check you attitude and characters and allow the Holy Spirit put you back in line and shape your character to that of Christ.

To be continued…

Love you BiG
