I want to specially welcome you to this great month of June 2017, the Lord that has kept us thus far in this great year will see us to the end in Jesus name.

The year 2017 is half way gone and I feel led to point our attention to a certain critical issue. Many people might not be aware of this, but we need to reassess our situation if we want 2017 to be our best year yet.

I have watched and heard stories of great football comebacks which have defied explanations. I remember the popular “Miracle of Darmam”. I was surprised at the volume dedicated to this amazing football game on Wikipedia.

This match was between the Nigerian U-20 football team and their USSR counterpart at the 1989 FIFA World Youth Championship in Saudi Arabia, which the Nigerian U-20 team went on to win on penalties. What made this match so special is the fact that as at 30 minutes to the end of the match, the Nigerian team was four goals down.

Many Nigerians watching on television had switched off to go do some other things that would get their minds off the “humiliating defeat”, while others at the stadium were finding their way out. But within the remaining 30 minutes of the match, Nigeria equalized to drag the match into extra time, going on to win the match on penalties. 

I also remember the 2005 European Champions League final between Liverpool FC of England and AC Milan of Italy. By half-time Liverpool were 3 goals down to AC Milan. But before the end of the matrch Liverpool equalized. The game ended three goals apiece, with Liverpool winning on penalties. 

Friend, how does this relate to us? Well, this piece is not about football, it’s about picking up and applying a concept to our lives. This concept is what I call the “Half-time” phenomenon. Stay with me…
