Genesis 27:40 “By your sword you shall live, And you shall serve your brother; And it shall come to pass, when you become restless, That you shall break his yoke from your neck.”(NKJV)
…From yesterday…
Jesus is simply the Sword of God! He demonstrated how to skillfully use the Sword in warfare to us, from the inception of his ministry right on to the end. He combated the devil with his sword. He said man shall not live by bread alone but by every word from the mouth of God.
Matthew 4:4″ But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”
In other words, Jesus was re-echoing what Isaacs told Esau, “By your sword you shall live…” not by bread alone!
When the devil attacked him, (read Matthew 4:3-11), the only thing he said repeatedly was “It is written”. He drew out his sword to attack the enemy until the devil eventually left him alone. That is how to use the sword.
Before you set about praying for something, settle down and put together the relevant “Sword”. Let this be the starting point of your prayer; because despite the fact that you pray and believe God the enemy will attempt to strike you with doubt, fear and unbelief. So each time he does this, simply respond with your sword.
You can never live a victorious Christian life without adequate knowledge of the word or sword. You must keep it handy and ready at all times.
Isaac adviced Esau to therefore keep his sword handy and live by it!
Another thing I want you to note about the sword is that it represents your mouth. The Bible says:
Proverbs 18:21 “Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”
Proverbs 18:21 “Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit–you choose.” (MSG)
Why will the bible say this?
To be continued…
