LIVING BY THE SWORD-3
Genesis 27:40 “By your sword you shall live, And you shall serve your brother; And it shall come to pass, when you become restless, That you shall break his yoke from your neck.”(NKJV)

Let’s now take a critical look at what Isaac said and glean some wisdom from it.
The first major thing he said to Esau was this, “By your sword you shall live…” (Genesis 27:40)
This sounds like violence and of course made Esau look like a wild wicked man, but beloved, here is the truth: You will never go far in life if you are not living by the sword! 
If you don’t understand how to live by the sword, you will die cheaply. As a believer, we can only survive by the sword.
Warfare is part of the game of life. If you study your bible carefully, you will discover that one adjective God used to qualify the New Testament believer probably more than any other is ‘soldier’. One major language used all through scriptures is military language. 
We also know that if a man is called a soldier then he must have a weapon, and one of the most potent weapons in the armoury of a soldier is the sword. 
In the bible, the sword represents two major things, the word of God and our mouth. Hear this:
Ephesians 6:17 “And take the helmet of salvation, and the SWORD of the Spirit, which is the word of God:”
Ephesians 6:17 “and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an [indispensable] weapon.”(MSG)
Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
The word of God is the sword of the Spirit and the bible says it is an indispensable weapon.
