Divine Supply
Genesis 22:7 “And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here [am] I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where [is] the lamb for a burnt offering?”
Genesis 22:8 “And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.”
This piece is a sequel to “We’ll be back”. It shows Abraham making yet another profound statement of faith.
All along Isaac has kept mum until this very moment. I am sure he must have been having series of thoughts as well. He must have wondered all through the trip where the lamb for sacrifice was. A million questions must have traversed his mind before he finally summoned up courage to ask his dad.
Abraham didn’t take out time to explain to Isaac the details, he simply said, “…God will provide himself a lamb…”
That is indeed a man of faith. Abraham kept trusting even when everything looked contrary. Abraham must have reasoned that if God could give him a son at his old age, was it a lamb God would not provide?
Many of us seem to forget or miss this point when we are believing God for a miracle. I have seen people get angry with God when it seems what they ask him is not forthcoming. I have heard men make utterances to God that shows they don’t know him at all, despite all the religious mask.
You see a man praying for a job and getting angry because he has been on the prayers for three months. This same folk forgot he has been sleeping and waking up for those three months! Where is the breath coming from?
I have since learnt that as wicked as men are and as hostile as they are towards God, He hasn’t for once withdrawn oxygen.
If he can give us breath, what else can’t he freely give us? Abraham told his son, God would supply and that settled it!
Even though you don’t know where it is coming from, always boldly declare, “GOD WILL PROVIDE” and watch him divinely provide for you.
