Genesis 22:5 “…I and the lad will go yonder and worship and come again to you.”
Genesis 22:6 “AND ABRAHAM TOOK THE WOOD OF THE BURNT OFFERING, AND LAID IT UPON ISAAC HIS SON; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.”
Another powerful tool that will aid us at the place of prayer is what I call a prayer list.
What is a prayer list?
The truth is this, one of the reasons many people don’t carry the cross of prayer daily is because they get to the place of prayer and don’t know what to say. I have had this challenge before as well.
I hear people say, “I prayed for 5,6,7 or 10 hours today”, “I prayed all through the night” and so on. I mean people that genuinely prayed, not somebody that is trying to flash his credentials or play religion. I am talking about men that really prayed.
The first thing that comes to my mind then is, “What was he saying?” Many a times when we stand at the place of prayer and think we have prayed for 30 minutes, we look at the time and realise it was just 4 minutes! I am sure you’ve had that encounter before. So when someone now says he prayed for 5 hours, you wonder what he was saying.
Friend, having a prayer list is one major tool that will aid you at the place of prayer.
A prayer list is a set of prepared items that would be prayed about. Jesus said:
Luke 11:2 “So He said to them, “When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as [it is] in heaven.” (NKJV)
Jesus said, “When you pray, say…”, in other words, when you pray list what to be prayed about starting with Our Father in heaven and so on.
Jesus gave us a powerful prayer pattern here which is an ideal guide in the place of prayer. In Jesus’ model, he taught us to start the list by adoring God and praying about the kingdom.
