SACRIFICING ISAAC
The Cross-3
Genesis 22:5 “…I and the lad will go yonder and worship and come again to you.”
Genesis 22:6 “AND ABRAHAM TOOK THE WOOD OF THE BURNT OFFERING, AND LAID IT UPON ISAAC HIS SON; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.”
…From yesterday…
Carrying ones cross also means “to kneel down”. This connotes two major things. It means humility and also means prayer.
Humility talks about “being near to the ground”, meaning a state of being humble. It is actually thinking lowly of oneself; claiming little for oneself; not proud or arrogant. Hear this:
Proverbs 18:12 “Pride first, then the crash, but humility is precursor to honor.” (MSG)
Friend, what has crashed the lives of several people is pride, if only they had “carried the cross of humility” daily their destinies would have been preserved.
We live in a world where everybody want to think highly of themselves. Each person want the other to be their subjects. No wonder Jesus made this very important leadership statement:
Matthew 20:25 “So Jesus got them together to settle things down. He said, “You’ve observed how godless rulers throw their weight around, how quickly a little power goes to their heads.”
Matthew 20:26 “It’s not going to be that way with you. Whoever wants to be great must become a servant.” (MSG)
In the principle of heaven, leaders and great men are actually òòo To serve takes great humility and a lowly spirit. Jesus said in the world, they have “rulers who throw their weight around”. These are the leaders who want everybody to be their slaves and puppets. These leaders love titles and positions but hates the attached responsibility.
Beloved, the cross of humility is one we all must carry daily because it is the pathway to honour.
