SACRIFICING ISAAC
The Cross-1
Genesis 22:5 “…I and the lad will go yonder and worship and come again to you.”
Genesis 22:6 “AND ABRAHAM TOOK THE WOOD OF THE BURNT OFFERING, AND LAID IT UPON ISAAC HIS SON; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.”
In our focal scripture for the day, Abraham did something very interesting. He actually preempts God. This man went to the future and did something God was planning to do in the physical.
The bible says Christ has been crucified from the foundations of the earth:
Revelations 13:8 “…the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”
Even though God had done it from the foundations of the earth it was yet to be made manifest in the physical but then, Abraham had this revelation and decided to carry out this act in anticipation of what God will do.
What was this act?
Abraham put a cross upon his son Isaac! “AND ABRAHAM TOOK THE WOOD of the BURNT OFFERING, and LAID IT UPON ISAAC HIS SON… (Genesis 22:6)
Abraham lay wood or cross on Isaac, a type and shadow of what God eventually did to Jesus!
Beloved, can you go into the mind of God to pick out an action that will serve as a model for your own miracle? Can you use a revelation from God to pave way for your own breakthrough?
Another thing I want you to note here is what Jesus said about the cross:
Luke 9:23 “And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”
Jesus said carrying the cross or laying of wood upon oneself should be a daily affair. He was very emphatic about it but the question is what does he mean by that statement?
The word cross is translated to mean several things in the Greek, such as self-denial, to kneel down and to walk in covenant amongst several other things.
To be continued…
