Genesis 22:6 “And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.”

The final item Abraham went with is “a knife”.
What does a knife represent?
The knife represents two key things that go hand in hand. It represents the word of God and the ability to give proper interpretation to it. Let us consider these two scriptures:
Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is quick and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
The word of God is likened to the sword or knife in Hebrew 4:12, which can divide and discern. Timothy then talks about rightly dividing it.
These two scriptures show that it is not enough to know the word, we must also know how to apply it. Understanding the word of God is what gives light.
Abraham went handy, not just with the word but with an understanding of what it says. The bane of several Christians is understanding.
Many of us truly read the bible but lack adequate understanding, unfortunately understanding is what conveys application and application of the word is what births miracles.
Beloved, if you don’t have a knife you will struggle in the race of life. If there is anything that must be uppermost on your prayer list, it must be insight and understanding. Once you can rightly divide the word, the devil becomes helpless about you.
Note that dividing the word properly is what releases faith, and faith is the tool that produces miracles.
Abraham went with his knife; he was not confused about the instructions of God. Beloved, pick your knife and sharpen it as well, Selah!
