Leave Them Behind-1
SACRIFICING ISAAC
Leave Them Behind-1
Genesis 22:4 “Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.”
Genesis 22:5 “And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship and come again to you.”
Friend, not everything matters at the place of worship. One of the reasons several of our worships have not been accepted is the unnecessary loads we carry to the place of worship.
Several people go to the presence of God with so many things that will cause distraction.
Abraham knew and understood the details and sensitivity of this assignment, and as such he took utmost caution. He knew what mattered to the accomplishment of his mission and what did not. The truth of the matter is that you need people at every junction of your life’s journey, but you must know when a person’s assignment is over in your life.
Not everybody will be around you for life. You must know when to dismiss who. As a man on a mission you must know and understand the details of your assignment and treat it as such.
The problem of many people is that they took what should be left behind to the place of worship and those things constituted distractions and hindrance to them.
Look at a typical example in the life of Jesus:
Mark 5:37 “And he suffered NO MAN TO FOLLOW HIM, SAVE Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.”
Mark 5:39 “And when he was come in he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado and weep the damsel is not dead but sleepeth”
Mark 5:40 “And they laughed him to scorn BUT WHEN HE HAD PUT THEM ALL OUT he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying”
Jesus went to raise this dead girl back to life. He wanted God to intervene in a matter, but he also knew that not everybody matters at the place of miracle.
To be continued…
